3.0 Units

ART 189 is a course designed for the advanced student who wishes to pursue an individual direction in depth. Students propose a semester research project, concentrating on specific techniques, materials, and firing procedures. Upon instructor approval of the proposal, students are expected to work semi-independently, formulating personal clay bodies, glazes, and firing techniques. Reading and research assignments are made where applicable. A written analysis of a current ceramic exhibition is required. Lecture 2 hours/Studio 2 hours. Prerequisite: ART 188 or equivalent.
