Award-Winning Filipino-American Conductor, Dr. Nové Deypalan, appointed as the new Music Director of the Glendale Community College’s GLENDALE YOUTH SYMPHONY & GLENDALE YOUTH CHOIR.
Glendale Community College is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Nové Deypalan, an award-winning conductor, has been appointed as the new Music Director of the Glendale Youth Symphony (GYS) and the Glendale Youth Choir (GYC). With a distinguished career in conducting and in the arts and a deep commitment to nurturing young talent, Dr. Deypalan is poised to inspire the next generation of musicians at GYS and GYC.
Dr. Nové Deypalan holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Music in Conducting Performance from Chapman University. In addition, Dr. Deypalan obtained the Certificate in Financial Success for Nonprofits from Cornell University, which distinguishes him as a well-rounded conductor and a visionary leader in arts education and management.
On the podium, Columbia FreeTimes hailed Dr. Nové Deypalan’s conducting skills as “fearless, first-class music-making.” He is renowned for his commitment to excellence, earning multiple accolades throughout his career. He is a two-time Prize Winner at the International Conducting Competition in Georgia (2013 and 2014), and received the
Highest Distinction Award at the prestigious International Masterclass with St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in Russia. His remarkable talent was further recognized when he won Second Prize at the 2018 Danube International Conducting Competition in Budapest and received a Special Commendation Award at the 2016 London Conducting Competition. He has conducted and led ensembles at Carnegie Hall and performed for Popes at the Vatican.
As the founder of the Los Angeles Conducting Workshop Institute (LACWI), Dr. Deypalan has developed a renowned program for both advanced and emerging conductors. His leadership at LACWI has fostered a vibrant community of musicians and established vital partnerships with esteemed institutions, ultimately enhancing the
arts landscape in our region.
His commitment to artistic achievement, excellence, and education aligns seamlessly with the mission of the Glendale Youth Symphony and the Glendale Youth Choir.
